Hi, I'm Marilyn Gore

I’m a journalist, editor, and educator with over 20 years of experience shaping stories across publishing, academia, and digital media.

I’ve mentored students at places like NID, St Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, and Gujarat Vidyapith, led editorial teams at Benefit News and First India, collaborated with organisations like Mapin Publishing, In Vaarta, the British Council and Lonely Planet. My work spans news articles, long-form features, podcasts, books, and strategy.

I’m sharp with structure, kind with feedback, and quietly ruthless about cutting jargon. Most people come to me when they need clarity, speed, or someone to untangle a mess of ideas.

When I’m not editing, I’m working on my debut fantasy novel with dragons, robots, and cheeky crockery that's been brewing for two decades. I’m also researching my Anglo-Indian family history through an archival project that I hope will eventually become a book about identity, memory, and belonging in post-Independence India. I live in Ahmedabad with my husband and our very opinionated indie dog, Hamlet.

Looking to make your story sharper, stronger, or stranger (in a good way)?
